  The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called

the Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes

when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.

His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers.

Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over

the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon

your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,

and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,

so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

Oreo

         "Oreo"

Domestic Long Hair

Color: Black and White

D.O.B: January 1986 (estimate)

D.O.D: April 24, 2006

Oreo had a long life (approximately 20+ years) of love and was the most kind and loving cat we have ever had in our home. He lived with us for over 17 years.

He came to our home, his voice hoarse from his desperate cry for help,  his bones sticking out so far, you could easily see them.

Our family already had a cat who was less than excited to share her   home with another cat and a 120 pound black lab dog. Oreo stayed around our home and every day he was there as part of our family fed him and the other part tried to discourage him from staying.

After several weeks of running ads in

the paper, phone inquiries, even visits

from a few, we were unable to locate

an owner. We took Oreo to our vet in

order to have tests run to confirm his

health. Extremely thin weighing about

6 pounds. (His ideal weight was 16-18 pounds.) and harboring two types of

worms our vet explained that Oreo

would not have lived much longer.

After all his tests, shots, etc., we

took him home to a quiet place to recuperate. Oreo was named after

the Oreo Cookie.

                                                                     Oreo

Oreo was a cat who made every dog-loving person's heart melt, showing them how wonderful a cat can be. He insisted that the bottom of his bowl never be seen and knew if he talked enough that he would get his way. Oreo would eat really fast, then he would quickly take his paw and pull another food bowl into his reach so he could have more without anyone knowing. Oreo always sat on his stool while the family ate dinner, he was a master in using his paw to push a crumb off the table to him.

Oreo quickly moved into the head of the household where he maintained peace among all of our pets who lived in our home. He was the most loving and devoted friend a person could have. When ill he would curl up with you. Oreo loved to get in bed first and then make you feel guilty if you tried to move him.

Oreo is now with his loveable black lab "Jake" who he would curl up with and the little black short-hair girl kitty "Ginger". We all miss our Oreo but we know there will be a day when we will be greeted by him when we too pass over the rainbow bridge.

~ New Mexico ~

Dakota was a wonderful boy who loved his owner Judith and his kitty playmate Maggie Mai. He taught Maggie Mai things as did Maggie Mai teach him. But unfortunately Dakota's liver failed and there was no medical interventions available be able to save him and yet give him quality of life.

Dakota's memory will forever live in the hearts of many who he touched their lives.
